Submit Your Idea by Friday, August 14!

Join the Virginia Nurses Association and Foundation on November 20 and 21 in Short Pump, Virginia, for an inspiring, two-day, in-person Nursing Impact Summit. Recognizing every nurse as a changemaker, this dynamic gathering brings together nursing leaders, frontline clinicians, educators, students, and nurses from across the Commonwealth to celebrate the profession, strengthen the workforce, and elevate the voices shaping the future of healthcare. The 2026 Nursing Impact Summit is dedicated to celebrating the nursing profession, strengthening the nursing workforce, and elevating the voices of nurses who are driving innovation, advancing workforce solutions, and shaping the future of healthcare.

The Virginia Nurses Association and Foundation invite you to share your work and your voice. Submissions should highlight how nurses use their expertise, leadership, and advocacy to advance the profession and create meaningful change. Abstracts should demonstrate impact on patients, communities, and the nursing workforce, and reflect nursing’s vital role as a catalyst for innovation and progress. Whether you lead change at the bedside, in the boardroom, the classroom, or the community, your expertise, perspective, and work matters. Join us in person to share your insights, connect with fellow nurse changemakers, and help shape the future of nursing in Virginia.

Presentation Formats:

  • Live Rapid-Fire Presentation (15 minutes): Deliver high‑impact insights, best practices, or innovative initiatives in a concise, engaging format designed to spark dialogue and shared learning.
  • In-Person Poster Presentation: Showcase your work through an in‑person poster presentation, offering attendees the opportunity for face‑to‑face discussion and networking throughout the conference.

Submission Requirements:
Share your presentation and/or poster idea by August 14 by completing the application form. Your submission should include:

  • A description of your best practice
  • How the practice transforms the nursing work environment and/or improves practice
  • Outcomes or expected outcomes
  • Lessons learned, what did not work and what would you change to improve the practice
  • Guidance for how other organizations can implement this practice or idea
The Review Team will review all submissions and notify accepted presenters by Friday, September 11th. The abstracts will be evaluated on the following criteria:
  • Relevance to Conference Theme
  • Clarity of Best Practice
  • Innovation/Originality
  • Impact on Nursing Practice/Patient Outcomes
  • Transferability
  • Organization and Structure
  • Grammar and Writing Quality
  • Alignment with Abstract Guidelines
Who Can Submit:
Individuals or interprofessional teams committed to advancing nursing practice and culture are encouraged to submit! Nurses in all practice environments, at all levels, and nursing students are welcome. Submissions promoting commercial products or services or unrelated to the conference theme will not be considered.

Presenter Guidelines:
Selected rapid-fire presenters will prepare a 15-minute live presentation to be delivered during the conference and will also participate in a live Q&A session with attendees. Final PowerPoint slides are due by November 6.

If not selected for a rapid fire presentation, individuals may be offered the opportunity to present a poster. In-
person poster presenters are required to print and bring their posters to the conference.

All presenters must submit any required forms by the deadlines outlined in their acceptance letter. Acceptance as a presenter is contingent upon review of any relevant financial relationships with ineligible companies.

Presenters are responsible for all costs associated with conference registration. All selected presenters must register for the conference by September 25.
