Revised August 2010
New CE Class Online - Safe Patient Handling
As part of its minimal lift initiative, the Virginia Nurses Association has proudly collaborated with Nursing Spectrum to create a continuing education module. Nurses can earn 1 contact hour of continuing education. The objectives of this program are to discuss the impetus for safe patient handling, describe evidenced-based standards for safe patient handling and movement and to explain how architectural design affects the ergonomics of patient care space. With grant funding provided by the Center for American Nurses, VNA has embarked on an initiative to establish minimal lift environments throughout the state. By reducing musculoskeletal injuries, Virginia's nurses can pursue their chosen profession as long as possible thus ensuring a skilled and stable workforce.
