NEW RIVER/ROANOKE VALLEYS
GEOGRAPHICAL DESCRIPTION
District Two is nestled in the Blue Ridge and Allegheny Mountains of beautiful Southwest Virginia. Included are the nine counties of: Botetourt, Carroll, Craig, Floyd, Franklin, Giles, Montgomery, Pulaski, and Roanoke. Major cities, towns, and county seats in the district are: Blacksburg, Christiansburg, Fincastle, Floyd, Galax, Hillsville, Narrows, New Castle, Pearisburg, Pulaski, Radford, Roanoke, and Salem.
The New River/Roanoke Valleys are multi-commerce and multi-cultural meccas. Major industry includes: medical centers and related businesses, banking, education, research, technology and farming to name a few. The majority of areas are accessible by Interstate 81 and other major four lane hi-ways. The Valleys are rich in history and offer a multitude of educational, cultural, religious, and recreational opportunities. The four very distinct seasons offers nature’s marvelous mountain bounty from mountain laurel and rhododendron in the Spring to breathtaking foliage in the Fall.
Professional and educational opportunities for nurses are widely available with many medical facilities scattered through the area and a number of schools of nursing with varied entry levels and offering varying degrees in nursing. DISTRICT TWO MISSION
The mission of District Two is to promote education, advocacy, and mentoring for registered nurses to advance professional practice and influence the delivery of quality care at the district level.

Nadine Nelson Scholarship
The District will award a scholarship of $500 each to one senior BSN student from the Baccalaureate progrrams the area.
*Nadine Nelson was one of the most active members of our district. Her untiring efforts are remembered with this scholarship named in her honor.
