We have several volunteer opportunities for those nurses interested in government relations.
- The Government Relations Commission works to develop VNA’s policy agenda, advocate for the nursing profession throughout the year and during the General Assembly session, and helps plan our annual Legislative Summit.
- Chapter Government Relations volunteers plan annual legislative receptions in conjunction with other specialty nursing organizations and work to build relationships with local legislators in order to advance Nursing’s Public Policy platforms. Interested volunteers do not need to have policy experience.
Volunteers for the Commission on Nursing Education provide strategic insight and guidance for the development of the VNA Education Plan, the ANCC accredited Approval and Provider units, and help to address key issues related to nursing academic education and nursing professional development. Commission members promote collaboration between practice and academia as well as among the various nursing education groups in Virginia.
Workforce Issues Commission
Workforce Issues Commission volunteers collaborate to develop plans and educational opportunities to help address the major issues facing registered nurses in VA, including workplace incivility, staffing, and more.
Student Outreach volunteers work within their local VNA chapters to plan an annual student event in their region and build relationships with local nursing student groups and schools of nursing
Local Chapter Leadership
Chapter leaders work to promote VNA and nursing in their local areas, plan and host educational and social events, and much more!
